Quick Overview
Details
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating is a two-part, water-based, durable, seamless finishes, which is primarily designed for general application in all areas of industry where a hard wearing coating is required. Applications include warehouses and production units, food preparation areas, laboratory-clean room environments, and any areas of maximum hygiene, such as operating theatres and breweries.
Floors become easier to clean and substantially more resistant to damage by forklift trucks, chemicals, fuels and lubricants etc. Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating also provides excellent resistance to light chemical attack and do not support fungus or bacterial growth.
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating also provides a curing membrane to increase the hardness of concrete by enabling full hydration of cement. Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating can be applied to new (green) concrete 7 days after being poured.
Epoxy Resin Floor Coating Benefits
- Low-odour
- Fast (overnight) curing @ 15 - 20°C
- Apply to concrete, wood, asphalt, etc
- Apply to metal in-conjunction with a compatible primer
- Slip resistant finish (when combined with an aggregate)
- Resistant to most fuels & lubricants
- Hard-wearing
- Non-Dusting
- Satin finish
- Available in a range of colours
- Superior colour stability
- Superior curing at low temperature
- Freeze-thaw stability
Application Areas
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating is ideal for use in the food industry E.g. dairies, breweries and bakeries where solvent based products are prohibited. The hard-wearing, chemical / oil resistant properties also make Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating ideal for:
- workshops
- warehouses
- supermarkets ( back of house areas )
- general light industrial usage
Normally 2 coats is advised for the best results when used as a floor coating. 1 Coat required if used as a primer for other floor coatings. Please note if this product is used as a primer it is not compatible with oils, greases and other chemical surface contaminates. If your surface has surface contaminates like the ones mentioned please use FAS Primer. Allow at least 12 hours to dry between coats. No more than 48 hours.
Preparation
New Concrete Floors: New concrete must be clean, sound, dry and fully cured and surface laitance removed preferably by enclosed shot blasting or mechanical grinding, a minimum strength of 25N/mm2 is required.
Existing Concrete Floors: Remove all dirt, oil, grease or other surface contaminants by enclosed shot blasting, scarification or mechanical grinding. Fats, oils or greases must be removed by mechanical means and detergent washing. Local repairs should be carried out using Quick-fix.
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating can also be applied to existing coatings and to wood, asphalt and other cementitious screeds which should be clean and sound with an appropriate mechanical key for adhesion.
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating can act as a curing membrane to increase hardness of concrete by allowing full hydration of cement. Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating can be applied to a new (green) concrete, 7 days after being poured.
Application
The ambient temperatures of the areas should not be allowed to fall below 10°C throughout the application and the curing period, as this could have an adverse effect on the appearance and colour of the system. Surface temperature must be above 5°C. Where possible it is recommended that the application area is heated to a minimum temperature of 15°C ideally to allow the ambient and substrate temperature to stabilise prior to installation.
Mixing: Pre-mix the base component to a uniform consistency then mix the entire contents of the base with the hardener. If a separate mixing bucket is being used mix thoroughly ensuring all contents of both components are removed from the buckets supplied. Mix using a slow speed electric mixer for approximately two minutes or until the two components have fully combined. Streaks within the mix indicate insufficient mixing. Do not add water to this product.
The mixed unit should be applied immediately by roller or brush with a consistent procedure. Floor areas should be cross-rolled to ensure even application and to minimise roller marks.
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating should always be applied in 2 coats unless being used as a primer for other floor coating systems.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating should be cleaned with a regular industrial cleaning regime with a floor scrubber utilising Permagard Industrial Floor Cleaner or similar with dirty water being removed. Isolated localised cleaning can be carried out using Permagard Tyre Mark Remover.. All surfaces should be thoroughly rinsed with clean water after the use of chemical cleaners.
Health and Safety
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating is formulated from materials designed to achieve the highest level of performance as safely as possible. However, specific components require proper handling and suitable equipment, this information is given in the relevant safety data sheets. In all cases, spillages or skin contamination should be cleaned as soon as practically possible, by dry wiping of the affected area, and thorough washing with soap and water.
