Condensation Control Description

Condensation control in a property is extremely important, if left untreated condensation can lead to damp and mould problems. Without condensation control these mould spores known as allergens can become airborne with the slightest disturbance. The microscopic spores are then inhaled and can trigger respiratory problems such as asthma, dust allergies and hayfever.

Condensation occurs where moist air comes into contact with air, or a surface, which is at a lower temperature. Air contains water vapour in varying quantities, its capacity to do so is related to its temperature - warm air holds more moisture than cold air. When moist air comes into contact with a colder surface, the air condenses some of its moisture onto the surface.

Condensation is generally noticeable where it forms on non-absorbent surfaces (i.e. windows or tiles) but it can form on any surface. It may not be noticed until mould growth or rotting of material occurs.

Condensation control can be achieved by various methods, from simple passive ventilation systems that are designed to be installed in local areas of prevalent mould and damp for local condensation control, to whole flat or house positive pressure ventilation systems that are condensation control units that ventilate the whole house from a central position, displacing and replacing moisture-laden air with fresh filtered air, forcing contaminates out of the property through natural cracks and leakages. Indoor air quality is immediately improved condensation control and eliminating mould growth.

We offer a range of condensation control products to treat the effects of condensation, from the treatment of fungi and mould to whole house condensation control ventilation systems. Whether you need a specialist installer in your area or help with a specification our condensation control technical advisors are here to help.
