Quick Overview
Details
PVA Adhesive and Sealer is a high strength adhesive/ sealer/ primer being suitable for most bonding jobs around the house. Not only will it stick together most materials such as cardboard, carpet tiles, chipboard, plaster and wood provided that the surface is porous but PVA is also used as a primer and dust proofer for sealing porous surfaces such as old plaster, concrete and old plaster board. PVA can also be used as a sealer for mortar surfaces such as concrete and plaster and also as an additive to cement to increase adhesion/ bonding properties.
PVA can also be used as a primer on highly absorbant surfaces before plastering (old renders, plasters, artex). The PVA is applied to the surface and allowed to dry, this seals the backing substrate so when the new plaster is applied the backing substrate cannot draw moisture from the plaster and make it dry out quickly thus making it near impossible to get a smooth finish.
Note: PVA should NOT be used on damp substrates or as a bonding agent after damp proofing. If you require a bonding agent for use in wet or damp situations please see our SBR Bonding Additive. PVA will not bond two non-porous surfaces. It should not be painted directly with a water based paint or used as a contact adhesive.
