Quick Overview

Cementitious fast setting waterproofing slurry. Breathable, water pressure tight, high strength surface waterproofing that quickly sets for application onto brickwork and cementitious based substrates.

Details

Sulfatex Grout Rapid is a high quality, mineral building waterproofing grout that is state-of-the art technology. Waterproofing the building and repairing the substrate can be executed wet-on wet in a single working operation, allowing faster work and cost savings.

▪ Fast restoration in just one day!
▪ Easy and fast to work on sandlime brick, brick and concrete substrates
▪ Waterproofing and repairing (e.g. joints, holes, broken out areas) are executed in just a single working operation!
▪ Wet-on-wet technique – no waiting time!
▪ Reliable, crack-free setting
▪ Adheres extremely well to the substrate, forming a bond
▪ Water impermeable even with water pressure load
▪ Resistant to water, frost and sulphates
▪ Promotes drying since the grout is vapour permeable "breathable"
▪ National Test Certificate for building waterproofing
▪ Proved in a test against pressure water from behind and salt resistance

For subsequent waterproofing of cellars from the interior against ground damp, nonstanding and standing seepage water, water pressure and water from behind

▪ For the restoration of old buildings, in damp areas on plinths and cellar walls, for moisture penetration in surfaces. Also for vertical waterproofing in areas where subsequent horizontal barriers are placed.

▪ As protection from moisture from behind when new buildings are  waterproofed with crack-bridging bitumen thick coatings.

Substrate preparation
All wall and floor substrates must be sound, load-bearing, free of substances with a separating effect and loose soft material. Old render should be removed at least 80 cm above the visible damp zone. The substrate should be cleaned and old coatings removed from the entire surface, e.g. by mist blasting (Rotec), also mechanically in small areas.

Interior waterproofing must be continuous and therefore interior dividing walls must be separated from exterior walls the width of a stone as far up as the render was removed. A 20 cm wide strip of the screed in the floor-wall connection area should be removed or, if the cellar slab leaks,
completely removed.

Partial leaking areas in masonry work, e.g. soft joints, the connection joint to the floor, horizontal joints with a barrier membrane, open cracks should be chiselled out at least 2 cm deep and pre-sealed with Kiesol and Remmers Rapid Hardener.

Cracks in concrete and, if necessary, the floor connection should be injected with Injection Resin PUR or elastically with Injection Resin 2K PUR.
Depending on moisture content and absorbency, the substrate may need to be pre-wet. Highly absorbent masonry work (e.g. dry sand-lime brick) should be pre-wet several times in advance!

The waterproofing should always be applied to matt damp but not shiny wet substrates.

Waterproofing and restoration

Deep protection priming: Kiesol diluted 1:1 with water is sprayed over the entire surface of the matt damp, clean substrate, avoiding excess material running down. After a short waiting time (at least 15 min.), work can be continued.

Levelling: In areas where there are indentations, e.g. broken out stone, chased out soft joint areas, missing areas, gravel pockets or coarse surface texture, Remmers Sulfatex Grout Rapid is brushed on as a bonding layer (for mixing, see "Waterproofing" below). Remmers Waterproofing Filler is applied directly, wet-on-wet, to the adhesive grout (even several centimetres thick). The repaired areas can be immediately levelled
with a float, trowel, plasterer's float or jointing iron to achieve a closed surface.

Place a sealing cove on the wall-floor connection over the fresh layer of adhesive grout using Waterproofing Filler. Work can be continued after just 60 minutes.

Waterproofing: Depending on the desired consistence, pour 4.8 to 5.0 litres of water into a clean container. Add 25 kg Sulfatex Grout Rapid and mix thoroughly with mixing equipment for approx. 3 minutes until homogenous. Allow to mature for 2 minutes; then stir until the proper consistence for working has been achieved. The quantity of water to be added should be observed! Immediately after mixing, Sulfatex Grout Rapid is applied to the entire surface with a soft brush in a grouting procedure. After approx. 20 minutes (depending on the substrate), a second layer of grout is applied as before. In case of standing seepage water or water pressure loads, apply three layers of Sulfatex Grout Rapid. The grout should be applied with a minimum application rate of 2.0 kg/m² (> 1 mm thick layer) per layer. The total thickness of the waterproofing grout should not exceed 5 mm in any place. Since water loads may change, we recommend a 3 mm thick
layer.

Sulfatex Grout Rapid and Waterproofing Filler are fast restoration products and the individual working sequences must be therefore coordinated with the working time (30-45 minutes, depending on temperature). If the ambient, material or object temperature is above 25 °C, use the slow setting system, Remmers Waterproofing Grout / Repellent Mortar.

Finishing the wall with lightweight render:
After the last layer of grout has been applied, the wall surface must be coated within 30 minutes with a breathing active render thatpromotes drying. Apply a full surface rough cast first made of Remmers Universal Render antique white or Remmers Restoration Render (antique white
or special) and then apply a single layer of the render (at least 10 mm, max. 30 mm). The wall render should be separated from the floor by a joint at least 1 cm wide. Do not apply gypsum or lime render!

If render is to be applied at a later time, throw Remmers Preparatory Mortar onto the last layer of grout instead.

Cellar floor surfaces:
After the screed has been removed and the substrate cleaned, any cracks should be injected. Spray Kiesol diluted 1:1 with water over the entire surface of the matt damp, clean substrate, avoiding excessive amounts. After a waiting time of at least 15 minutes, waterproof wet-on-wet
with two or three layers of grout, according to load, using Sulfatex Grout Rapid as described above. Then place a bonded screed. If the screed cannot be placed the same day (e.g. full surface floor waterproofing), apply a bonding layer of Sulfatex Grout Rapid the next day and then place the screed over the fresh bonding layer. Screed placed over waterproofing should be reinforced. The use of a fast screed (that dries in 1 day!) is
also possible with Remmers Fast Screed Cement.

Plinth waterproofing with injection against rising damp:
Execute surface waterproofing at least 30 cm above the horizontal barrier. For this, spray Kiesol diluted 1:1 with water over the entire surface of the matt damp substrate, avoiding excess material. After a waiting time of at least 15 minutes, waterproof with two layers of grout, wet-on-wet, using Sulfatex Grout Rapid and then apply Remmers Universal Render as described above.
