Interesting Facts about Newton

Newton membranes were established by John Newton in London 1848.

In 1932, the first damp proof membrane ‘Newtonite’ was designed and produced.

Between 1945 - 1983, Newton’s damp proofing business flourished in the UK.

Approximately 5 million metres of Newton membrane was sold in this period.

In 1984, the current chairman Christopher Newton invented Newlath – hdpe dimpled sheet membrane with heat welded nylon mesh.

Today, the range of Newton products continues to grow. Did you know that Newton's very own membranes were used in buildings including Windsor Castle, London Underground Station, Houses of Parliament and the Royal Courts of Justice. Now that’s impressive.

Below is a complete list of Newton’s damp proofing and water proofing systems:

System 100 – A portfolio of cementitious products.

System 200 – High performance liquid membranes and ancillaries for balconies, terraces, flat and inverted roofs.

System 300 – Horizontal drainage membranes acting as a filtration layer, providing reservoir capabilities for specifiers who are designing green or turf roof projects.

System 400 – A range of composite membranes. They protect the primary waterproof membrane from impact and water pressure, diverting water down a perforated land drain for removal.

System 500 – The professional’s choice, system 500 places designed maintainable depressurisation voids at known weaknesses in the structure so that ingressing water is simply captured and diverted out of the property.

System 600 – Flooring membranes which offer damp proof solutions for both commercial and domestic flooring applications.

System 700 – A range of liquid applied protective and decorative internal flooring products.

System 800 – BBA approved damp proof membranes and ancillaries – a permanent solution for damp proofing walls.

System 900 – A range of liquids used in conjunction with systems 200 and 700. They act as priming agents for a variety of substrates prior to application of waterproofing and flooring membranes.
