Easi-Fix Armlock Lateral Restraint
The Armlock Lateral Restraint is a stainless steel easily fixed, fully adjustable, load transfer device permitting floor plates to be used to provide lateral restraint to abutting walls.
Armlock Lateral Restraint
The Permagard Armlock for masonry is an easily fixed, fully adjustable, load transfer device permitting floor plates to be used to provide lateral restraint to abutting walls. Where floor joists bear upon the wall to be restrained, instead of having to cut and fix timber noggins between the joists, which inevitably are unevenly spaced, the Armlock adjusts to the joist spacing and is easily screw fixed to the side of the joists. The connection to the wall may be provided by a stud fixing.
Fabricated from Stainless Steel, the device is ensured a corrosion free existence.
How the Armlock Works
The Armlock is connected to the wall by an embedded stud fixing (Not included) and easily adjusts to the joist spacing. Double screw fixings are provided to secure the device to the side of the joists.
Fixings are made clear of the joist ends thereby avoiding any soft wood which may be present. The Armlock is made to adjust to joist spacing from 300mm up to 500mm as standard.
Extra long arms can be ordered to accommodate wider spacings. An additional connector may be incorporated to permit vertical adjustments where fixing to rafters or other structural members at a different level to the Armlock.
Installing an Armlock
The setting out is easy. The fixing to the wall is midway between the two adjacent joists. It is not necessary to achieve an exact point. The vertical location is approximately half-way up the side of the joists.
The Armlock is connected to the wall by an embedded 8mm stainless steel stud fixing (not included in supply), fixed through the backplate.
The adjustable arms are swivelled to extend to the joists.
Double coach screw (Grade “A2” 6mm x 50mm supplied), are provided to secure each arm of the device to the sides of the joists. Fixings are made clear of the joist ends thereby avoiding any soft wood, which may be present.
The Armlock will fit between joists as system can also be used as a “through building tie” by placing the device at each end of pairs of joists, with a bolted connection through the joists if they are lapped in the width of the building.
