PermaSEAL PRO Liquid Gas Membrane - 15kg
Create an effective barrier against ground gases, moisture and water vapour with our professional single-component Liquid Gas Membrane. Easy to apply, flexible and tough.
Liquid Radon Membrane & Ground Gas Barrier
PermaSEAL PRO Liquid Gas Membrane is a high-performance liquid-applied gas barrier. Our single-component product creates an effective barrier against ground gases (including methane, carbon dioxide, and radon) as well as against moisture and water vapour transmission.
As both a gas-resistant membrane and damp proof membrane (DPM), it can be used on floors, walls, and other critical interfaces. Application is easy and efficient, using brush, roller, or airless spray equipment.
Formulated from styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) latex, our professional-grade elastomeric liquid gas membrane (LGM) cures to form a seamless, flexible, and highly durable film. It is suitable for use in both new-build and retrofit applications in accordance with relevant gas protection and damp proofing standards.
Uses
PermaSEAL PRO Liquid Gas Membrane is suitable for new build and retrofit applications. It can be applied to damp (but not saturated) substrates, in the following scenarios:
- Concrete slabs
- Subsequent screeds
- Below ground level (as part of a wider waterproofing system)
- Walls
- Decks and roofs
- Under tiles
- Water and silage storage
- Convoluted shapes where gas sheet membranes aren’t appropriate
Liquid Radon Membrane
It is vitally important to protect properties from harmful radon gas as it can cause serious health issues like cancer. PermaSEAL PRO Liquid Gas Membrane is a high-performance alternative to plastic radon membranes. The benefits of a liquid radon membrane are the speed of application and the ability to apply it vertically as well as horizontally.
Application
With careful preparation and due care during application, PermaSEAL PRO LGM is easy to apply and achieves lasting protection.
Preparation
All surfaces should be clean, free from dust, debris, loose material and standing water. Carry out any repairs to leave a smooth and sound substrate - fill holes and re-point flush using PermaSEAL Fillet Seal.
Priming
Priming is not required, but you can lightly pre-dampen the surface for optimal membrane adhesion.
Coating
Stir well before use. The membrane may be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. You can achieve the specified film thickness in a single coat when using an airless spray, or in multiple coats (minimum 3 coats) when using a brush or roller. If necessary, the liquid compound may be diluted with a little water (max 5% by vol.) to reduce the viscosity.
When applying two or more coats, subsequent coats should be applied at right angles to the previous coat. Ensure even coverage and full cure between layers by following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Important Note: Do not use/apply if the temperature of the material, air or substrate is below +7°C or above +25 °C.
When applying a screed or render over PermaSEAL PRO Liquid Gas Membrane, an additional bonding coat of the membrane should first be applied to the cured surface at a rate of 0.25 kg/m². Once this bonding coat reaches a tacky (semi-cured) state, the screed or render should be applied directly to ensure optimal adhesion.
Curing
After all coats have been applied, the membrane should be left for at least four days before attempting any ponding tests. Under standard site conditions (approximately 20°C, 65% RH), the membrane becomes touch dry within approximately 60 minutes, with full cure dependent on ambient conditions and film thickness.
Coverage
To ensure effective gas resistance, a minimum dry film thickness (DFT) of 1 mm is required. This corresponds to a total application rate of 2 kg/m². The necessary quantity of material may vary depending on the substrate texture and absorption.
