Permagard sustainability and environmental policy

Sustainability & Environmental Policy

Permagard Products Ltd specialises in the manufacture and supply of waterproofing, damp proofing and structural repair products to professionals and DIY customers across the UK and Europe.

As a family-run business, we take pride in doing things the right way – that includes how we manage our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable construction industry. We recognise that true sustainability is about continual improvement, transparency and collaboration with those who specify, install and use our products.

We comply with all relevant UK environmental legislation and regulations, and continually strive to exceed these standards wherever possible.

Our Approach

Our environmental policy has always been built around the principle of being green aware – reducing waste, buying responsibly, and improving efficiency across everything we do. Today, this sits within a broader sustainability strategy that looks at the full lifecycle of our products, from design and manufacture to end-of-life reuse and recycling.

Our Commitments

  • Reducing Waste & Pollution – We continuously monitor and improve our environmental performance, seeking to eliminate any foreseeable hazards to the pollution of air, land or water. We recycle as much waste material as possible and aim to minimise packaging wherever we can.
  • Designing for Sustainability – We’re committed to manufacturing products that perform exceptionally while minimising environmental impact. Our PermaSEAL Eco X Cavity Drain Membrane, made from 100% recycled HDPE, is a prime example of this approach in action.
  • Responsible Sourcing – We expect our suppliers to share our values and to adopt sustainable practices wherever possible. Together, we’re building greater transparency and traceability through our supply chain.
  • Smarter Packaging – Our outer boxes are made from cardboard containing up to 80% recycled material. Internal packaging used to protect products is biodegradable, and our air pockets are made from 100% recyclable plastic.
  • Lower Carbon Operations – We continue to reduce energy consumption and emissions across our operations, adopting greener technologies and improving efficiency wherever feasible. We also liaise with our delivery partners and couriers to encourage efficient logistics, route planning and load consolidation that help reduce vehicle emissions.
  • Supporting Sustainable Specification – We work closely with specifiers, architects and contractors who are targeting sustainability frameworks such as BREEAM (including BREEAM Infrastructure) and LEED. We can provide supporting documentation, product data and guidance to assist with responsible material selection.
  • Long-Term Product Performance – By focusing on durability, maintainability and whole-life value, we help reduce the frequency of material replacement and associated embodied carbon across the project lifecycle.
  • Engaging Our People & Communities – Every team member at Permagard is encouraged to contribute to our sustainability goals. We also support local initiatives through volunteering, sponsorship and fundraising for community causes.

Continuous Improvement

We recognise that our sustainability journey is ongoing. We continue to set targets for waste reduction, carbon performance and material efficiency, while exploring new opportunities to expand the use of recycled content and develop lower-impact products.

We also welcome feedback and ideas from customers and partners. If you have suggestions on how we can improve, or if you require sustainability information such as embodied carbon, recycled content or VOC data, please contact us. Collaboration is key to driving progress.

From Our Director

"As a family-based company, many of us with young children or grandchildren, it’s essential that we do our bit to protect the environment for generations to come. While we know that our industry can never be entirely green, we’re determined to make meaningful, measurable progress – reducing our impact, supporting sustainable design, and helping our customers build responsibly."
