John Newton Waterproofing: A Proud Legacy

Established in London in 1848, John Newton Waterproofing has been protecting buildings for over 175 years. Back in 1931, John Newton introduced the Newtonite lath membrane to the UK. It featured corrugations to create an air gap between the wall and the Newtonite membrane, allowing the wall to breathe.

In 1984, the current chairman Christopher Newton invented Newlath – HDPE dimpled sheet membrane with heat-welded nylon mesh.

More recently, Newton membranes have been used in major projects including Windsor Castle, London Underground Station, Houses of Parliament and the Royal Courts of Justice.

Permagard stocks all of the main line products across key Newton systems, including:

• Newton 400 - External Waterproofing. A range of composite membranes that protect the primary waterproof membrane from impact and water pressure, diverting water down a perforated land drain for removal. We stock the Newton Newseal 420 DeckDrain.
• Newton 500 - Cavity Drain Waterproofing. The professional’s choice, Newton's System 500 places designed maintainable depressurisation voids at known weaknesses in the structure so that ingressing water is simply captured and diverted out of the property. It includes the Newton 508 Clear Membrane and the optional Newton condensation strips.
• Newton 600 - Flooring Membranes offering damp proof solutions for both commercial and domestic flooring applications, like Newton 601 Slimline Floor Membrane 40m2
• Newton 800 - BBA-approved Newton damp proof membranes and ancillaries – a permanent solution for damp proofing walls.
• Newton HydroBond 2K-Flex - bitumen external waterproofing system including HydroBond 2K-Flex Coating, Reinforcing Mesh, and 2K-Flex Primer.
• Newton Deckdrain membrane - specially designed membrane for deck and flat roof drainage.

Newton Ancillaries - we stock Newton Fibran basement insulation boards for the Newton 500 systems as well as a range of other accessories such as Newton Reinforcement Tape, Newton HydroCoat 104 and high strength Repair Mortar.
