Expanding Cob Fixing Plugs for soft substrates

PermaSEAL Cob Plugs are a specialist expanding membrane fixing plugs. They have been designed to attach cavity drain membranes and damp proofing membranes to poor quality or softer substrates such as cob walls or where ordinary plugs provide insufficient grip.

We stock cob fixing plugs in 60, 90, 110 and 130mm lengths to allow you to achieve a secure fixing in a range of substrates, depending on your needs.

PermaSEAL Cob Plugs allow you to fix damp proofing membranes and cavity drain membranes to softer substrates as well as older more questionable surfaces that normal friction reliant plugs fail on. This allows the installer to confidently install the membrane without needing to drill multiple holes to get the best placement or to repair failed plug holes.

Uses of Cob Plugs

Cob plugs are suitable for the following applications:

• fixing internal damp proofing membranes
• fixing cavity drain membranes
• fixing external drainage membranes
• fixing insulation boards

Installation

1. Drill a hole: Create a 10mm hole in the substrate with a 10mm SDS masonry drill bit.
   Drill into the substrate to a depth 10mm longer than your chosen cob plug.
2. Insert the plug: Firmly hammer the cob plug into the drilled hole with a rubber mallet.
3. Drive the pin: Tap the provided fixing pin into the centre of the plug.
4. Expand and grip: This action causes the plug to expand, securing it tightly within the soft material for a strong, lasting fix.
