Exterior Water Repellent for old and period buildings
Facade Cream Historic from Remmers is a high performance and breathable water-based exterior water repellent. It's suitable for use on Grade II Listed properties and monuments as it has been formulated to deposit less silicone, meaning there is no beading effect. You can use Facade Cream Historic on render, brick and natural stone.
Once the facade cream is applied, the active ingredients soak into the substrate and provide an invisible barrier against water penetration while still allowing the walls to 'breathe'. This means it's a highly effective way of protecting period properties from the effects of driving rain and penetrating damp for future generations.
Cream vs Liquid Waterproofing
As a professional water repellent, Funcosil Historic has been designed so that the active ingredient penetrates as deeply as possible into the facade. This provides optimal protection against the absorption of water and pollutants as well as damage caused by frost. The exterior of your historic building is protected from damage.
Applying a Facade Cream to an historic building
Funcosil Historic is easy to apply. Follow this guidance:
Preparation - make sure that the substrate is sound, clean, dry and free from dust. You should also look to restore any defects such as cracks or treat any hygroscopic moisture prior to applying the facade cream. It’s important that any cleaning is carried out with care to preserve any historic details and not cause damage. Spraying or steam cleaning can work well.
Application - The waterproofing cream is easy to apply by roller, spray or brush in just one coat. You can apply it straight from the bucket, working crosswise. The creamy consistency means that it can be applied without run-off loss (like you can get with liquid-based repellents) and can therefore be applied overhead.
Important note: with historic and listed buildings it’s essential to carry out a test in a trial area. This will help determine the level of absorption.
The initial white layer that helps you see where the cream has been applied, disappears completely after approximately 10 to 20 minutes.
If you see any excess facade cream within one hour please remove using white spirit.
Note: Temperature of the material, air and substrate: from min. +10 °C to max. +25 °C for a minimum of 24 hours.
