A water-based grey epoxy resin floor coating that delivers durable, seamless finishes. Primarily designed for general application in all areas where a hard wearing floor coating is required.
Epoxy Flooring Grey
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating is a two-part, water-based, durable, seamless finishes, which is primarily designed for general application in all areas of industry where a hard wearing coating is required. Applications include warehouses and production units, food preparation areas, laboratory-clean room environments, and any areas of maximum hygiene, such as operating theatres and breweries.
Floors become easier to clean and substantially more resistant to damage by forklift trucks, chemicals, fuels and lubricants etc. Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating also provides excellent resistance to light chemical attack and do not support fungus or bacterial growth.
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating also provides a curing membrane to increase the hardness of concrete by enabling full hydration of cement. Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating can be applied to new (green) concrete 7 days after being poured.
Epoxy Resin Floor Coating Benefits
- Fast (overnight) curing @ 15 - 20°C
- Apply to concrete, cement screed, cement render
- Slip resistant finish (when combined with an aggregate)
- Resistant to most fuels & lubricants
- Satin finish
- Superior colour stability
- Superior curing at low temperature
- Freeze-thaw stability
How to apply the epoxy coating
- Clean the floor by removing dust, oil and grease as these will reduce the bond. It is essential to remove any laitance by mechanical means (common on new concrete floors/screeds). Please speak with one of our expert technical adviser if unsure.
- Open the base and hardener components.
- Thoroughly mix the two together and then add clean water until you reach the indicated fill line and then carry on mixing for two minutes.
- Apply by short pile roller to the floor.
- Clean tools with water.
Normally two coats are advised for the best results. Allow at least 12 hours to dry between coats, but no more than 48 hours.
Permagard Epoxy Resin Floor Coating provides hard-wearing, chemical / oil resistant properties that make it ideal for:
- supermarkets (back of house areas)
- general light industrial usage
It is ideal for use in the food industry e.g. dairies, breweries and bakeries, where solvent-based products are prohibited.
Normally two coats are advised for the best results when used as a grey epoxy floor coating.
Allow at least 12 hours to dry between coats. No more than 48 hours. This product is not suitable for external application and is not UV light stable so the epoxy can potentially yellow when exposed for longer or intense periods of sunlight.
Use as an epoxy primer
One coat is required if it's being used as a primer for other floor coatings.
Please note if this product is used as a primer it is not compatible with oils, greases and other chemical surface contaminants. If your surface has surface contaminants like the ones mentioned please use FAS Primer. It is essential to remove any laitance by mechanical means (common on new concrete floors/screeds). How long will PermaSEAL epoxy floor coating last?
The condition of an epoxy floor depends on the rate and type of traffic. In commercial settings and harder wearing industrial environments, this may be 3-4 years before a recoat is required.
Can you use Permagard epoxy resin floor paint on a shower floor?
Unfortunately Permagard epoxy resin floor coating is not designed for showers. It is designed for commercial/industrial applications as well as garage floors.
Does epoxy flooring scratch easily?
It’s extremely hard to gouge or scratch an epoxy resin floor but heavy objects with exposed points can make dents and degrade the condition of your epoxy floor. All heavy equipment and/or objects that support heavy equipment should always be padded.
Will epoxy floors crack?
Cracking from something coming into contact with the coating from above is extremely rare as Permagard epoxy resin floor coating has a strength of 10,000 PSI (pounds per square inch). Structural movement of the concrete slab is another matter though, where enough movement could cause it to crack. It’s therefore important that the concrete is structurally sound.
What is the difference between epoxy flooring and epoxy coating?
Generally speaking epoxy flooring and epoxy coating are the same. Technically, you may hear the term epoxy flooring when someone is referring to the complete epoxy system (the entire build up of epoxy layers). Epoxy coating would refer to a specific coat/layer of epoxy.
Does epoxy floor paint need a primer?
Some applications of epoxy floor paint require a primer such as the FAS Epoxy Primer.
Can I apply epoxy floor paint to a wet floor?
No, the resin will not bond with the concrete and will also struggle to cure.
