Provides a hard, breathable and highly durable plaster finish on a range of surfaces or as part of the Limelite Renovating Plaster System.

High Impact Plaster

Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster is designed for use in damp environments as a surface finishing plaster instead of gypsum-based equivalents.

Limelite Finishing Plaster provides an impact-resistant and breathable finish over Limelite Renovating Plaster. The high impact plaster can also be used over lime backgrounds, sand/cement mixes and existing gypsum plaster.

Important note:, If this product is used over gypsum or other non breathable surfaces, its breathability is negated.

Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster can be used as part of the Limelite Renovating Plaster System, which is specified for use in restoration and renovation projects, flood remediation works and damp environments.

Uses of high impact finishing plaster

As an impact-resistant plaster, it is suitable for both residential and commercial projects, providing protection from accidental damage. Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster is designed for the following applications:

  • After the installation of a new DPC - part of Limelite Renovating Plaster System
  • After the application of a Renovation Plaster to offer a breathable finish
  • A finish over backing plasters, gypsum plaster, lime backgrounds and plasterboard
  • As part of flood remediation works as it is vapour permeable
  • Where an impact resistant finish is required

How to apply Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster

Preparation

All surfaces should be sound and keyed ready to accept the high impact plaster.

Important note: When applying over existing plaster finishes, make sure it is clean and in good condition.

Mixing Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster

Fill a clean plastic mixing tub with 7.5 litres of clean tap water. Add the full 25kg bag of Limelite to the water and mix with a slow speed drill with a paddle mixer attachment for 2-3 minutes until a smooth and homogeneous consistency is achieved. Make sure the edges of the mixing tub are scraped for dry powder or lumps and mixed in thoroughly. Allow the mix to rest for 3-5 minutes before remixing back to the correct consistency. Additional small amounts of water can be added if required.

Application

Using as part of the Limelite Renovating Plaster System

Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster should be applied in a single coat between 2-5mm thick. The plaster should be left to set for 90 minutes before using a stainless steel trowel to level.

Using over existing plaster finishes

Prime the wall with Limelite Easy-Bond. Once primer is tacky, apply the Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster in a single coat of between 2-5mm thick. The plaster should be left to set for 90 minutes before using stainless steel trowels to level.

Using over plasterboard

Due to the high suction of plasterboard, it is recommended that a mist coat of dilute acrylic primer (3:1 Water: Primer) is applied to the plasterboard prior to the application of Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster. Apply the High Impact Plaster onto the plasterboard while the primer is still tacky.

NOTE: Limelite High Impact Finishing Plaster has a matt off white finish and should not be overworked or polished.

Decoration: Once applied, it can be left exposed or painted over with breathable paints, usually water-based, after a minimum of 24 hours or when fully dried.
