Applying PermaCOAT Epoxy Primer
Our epoxy primer is easy to mix and apply, perfect for DIYers and tradespeople alike. You can be confident whatever your skill level. Although straightforward, it is important to follow the application instructions provided. Here’s an overview:
Preparation
Make sure the substrate is dry and free from oil, grease, dust, dirt, moss, or algae. Prepare the concrete with a wire brush, scabbling, or grit blasting to remove friable and loose material.
Important note: Avoid cleaning the substrate with detergents as these can interfere with the initial bond.
Mixing
PermaCOAT Epoxy Primer is supplied in convenient multi-chamber bags, removing the need for an electric paddle mixer. Simply mix the two components together by removing the rubber dividing seal and kneading the contents of the bag intensively (minimum 1–2 minutes).
Applying
Once mixing is complete, transfer the PermaCOAT Epoxy Primer to a roller tray or suitable plastic bucket. Using a medium-pile roller or brush (depending on the application), apply it evenly and generously over the surface.
Apply the primer to the substrate immediately after mixing. For floor areas, cross-roll to ensure even coverage, or brush vigorously into voids and cracks to work the primer into defects.
