PermaCOAT Liquid Epoxy DPM - 5,10 & 20kg tins
Liquid Epoxy Damp Proof Membranes
PermaCOAT Liquid Epoxy DPM is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy resin that is tolerant to residual moisture in concrete floors. Once dry, it provides long lasting protection against damp for any future floor coverings.
Our liquid epoxy DPM requires two coats, applied 24 to 48 hours apart, and dries to a dark grey. Once cured, it allows you to apply screeds, coatings and other floor coverings including tiles, vinyl, wood and carpets.

PermaCOAT Liquid Epoxy DPM is supplied in buckets. It has good chemical resistance to mild chemical attack, but is designed to be over-coated with other resin finishes such as PermaCOAT PRO Epoxy Floor Coating HB or the non-slip version.
Uses of Epoxy DPM
Our liquid epoxy DPM is suitable for a range of applications as long as certain conditions are met. It works as an epoxy DPM for existing concrete floors as well as new floors. If you’re unsure what’s right for your project, please contact our technical team.
Liquid Epoxy DPM for existing concrete floors
Our epoxy DPM is designed to be applied onto existing concrete floors and fine concrete screeds. In the case of unbonded screeds, the epoxy needs to be a minimum of 50mm thick.
Important note: if the concrete floor doesn’t contain an existing damp proof membrane or where one is ineffective due to damage, you need to consider the possibility of hydrostatic pressure. By creating a barrier layer, you may find that pressure / water flow is directed elsewhere with consequences.
Our liquid epoxy DPM can also be used on polymers and certain types of smoothing under-layments, as long as they are well bonded and stable to the effects of water. If not, then the concrete floor must contain an integral damp proof membrane to prevent further ingress of water from the ground.
In all cases, the surface should be of sufficient quality and mechanical strength to ensure an even coating.
Installing an Epoxy DPM
Preparation
New Concrete Floors: must be clean, sound, dry and fully cured. Any surface laitance must be removed, preferably by enclosed shot blasting or mechanical grinding.
Existing Concrete Floors: Remove all dirt, oil, grease and other surface contaminants by enclosed shot blasting, scarification or mechanical grinding. Carry out any necessary repairs and vacuum to remove concrete dust. An appropriate mechanical key for adhesion is required.
Mixing
Open each tin. Add the smaller container to the larger container, and mix with a mixing paddle in a power drill at a slow speed. Ensure the product is thoroughly mixed and consistent with no streaks. The minimum mixing time is two minutes.
Important Note: Once the two components are mixed, you should start to lay the Epoxy DPM immediately. You have a working time of approximately 10 - 30 minutes depending on substrate and air temperature. The warmer the temperature the quicker the product will start to go off.
Application Instructions
Apply the mixed material using a high quality roller. This Epoxy DPM required a minimum of two coats 24 - 48 hours apart unlike the PRO One Coat. For floors with a high RH Reading above 92%, three coats are required.
PermaCOAT Liquid Epoxy DPM is applied at 250 micron thickness (0.2mm) per coat. Although the epoxy will tolerate slight variations to this, we do not advise applying it above 0.5mm thickness as this could result in bubbling and curing issues.
Our Liquid Epoxy DPM dries dark grey. If you require a coloured finish, we recommend a coat of PermaCOAT PRO Epoxy Floor Coating HB after the DPM has been installed. Adding a layer of Epoxy Resin Floor Coating HB will give protection to your newly created damp proof membrane.

Finishes
If you wish to lay tiles or adhere any further coatings on top of this Epoxy DPM including self-levelling compounds, we advise that you blind the final coat. We recommend doing so with a Fine Quartz Aggregate 30 minutes after laying the coat to provide a key for the tile adhesive or grout to bond to.
