HydroBond 403 Plus External Waterproofing Membrane
Newton HydroBond 403 Plus is a high performance external waterproofing membrane. It provides a Type A (barrier) waterproofing solution to below ground and earth-retained structures. It achieves a full mechanical bond to concrete that stops water migration between the membrane and the structure. It provides protection against water ingress, the alkalinity of concrete and a gas barrier version is available on request.
How the HydroBond 403 Plus Membranes Works
One side of the membrane features a locking fleece and the other a polymer hydrophilic.
The fibres of the locking fleece allow the membrane to form a full mechanical bond with the concrete. This stops water tracking between the membrane and the structure when placed below the new raft or against permanent or temporary timber wall formwork.
The hydrophilic coating expands when it comes in contact with water. This allows it to seal small holes that may be formed during construction. This self-healing property deals with accidental punctures, providing peace of mind.
Newton HydroBond 403 Plus can be used with other Newton products in order to waterproof a whole structure. Once correctly installed, it provides complete protection for the life of the building against water ingress. This includes the deck, through construction joints, through and around service entries and to movement joints.
Applications of HydroBond 403 Plus
The HydroBond 403 Plus is suitable for all below ground and earth-retained structures. It is ideal for every job from domestic basements up to large civil engineering projects.
HydroBond 403 Plus can be used as a continuous membrane on permanent raft and wall formwork. This includes raft blinding and piled walls of reinforced concrete earth-retained structures.
It is suitable as raft or slab for the following substrates:
- Concrete blinding
- Compacted type 1 hardcore
- Compacted sand
