Newton TAS250 Automatic Sump Pump
High-performance sump pump with adjustable vertical float for reliable groundwater and surface water removal.
Reliable Pump Performance for Basement and Sump Applications
The Newton TAS250 Automatic Sump Pump is a high-performance, compact pump designed for the effective removal of groundwater and surface water from basements, cellars, light-wells and external areas.
Commonly used within PermaSEAL sump pump systems and dual pump systems, the TAS250 provides dependable water management as either a replacement pump or as part of a complete installation.
The pump is ideally suited to cavity drain membrane waterproofing systems, where consistent and reliable removal of collected water is essential to maintain a dry internal environment.
Consistent, Controlled Pump Operation
The TAS250 features a vertical float switch that operates within the footprint of the pump. This design eliminates the risk of float snagging, making it particularly suitable for smaller sump chambers and confined installations.
The float mechanism is fully adjustable, allowing installers to set both the activation level and the differential between start and stop heights. This enables precise control over pump cycling, helping to optimise performance and reduce unnecessary wear.
Performance and Durability
Designed for long-term reliability, the TAS250 incorporates a non-clogging vortex impeller and double mechanical seals to protect against particle abrasion and wear. Thermal overload protection safeguards the motor, while the anti-airlock design ensures the pump can operate effectively even after periods of inactivity or when the sump has been dry.
The pump is capable of pumping down to approximately 15mm, allowing for efficient removal of residual water and helping to minimise standing water within the chamber.
Power Outage Protection
When used in conjunction with Newton Victron inverter systems, the TAS250 can continue operating during mains power failure. This provides an additional level of protection for basements and below-ground structures, where uninterrupted pumping is critical.

Typical Applications
- Basement and cellar sump systems
- Light-wells and external drainage areas
- Patios, terraces and surface water collection points
- Reservoirs and water holding vessels
- Cavity drain membrane (Type C) waterproofing systems
When to Replace Your Pump
Sump pumps are critical components in basement waterproofing systems and should be considered part of a planned maintenance strategy rather than a fit-and-forget item.
Over time, mechanical wear, debris exposure and regular cycling can reduce pump performance. Proactive replacement helps minimise the risk of unexpected failure and flooding.
- Reduced pumping performance – slower discharge rates or incomplete emptying of the sump.
- Frequent cycling or irregular operation – may indicate float or internal component wear.
- Unusual noise or vibration – often a sign of impeller or motor issues.
- Visible wear or contamination – build-up of debris affecting operation.
- Age of existing pump – many systems benefit from inspection or replacement after several years of service.
Regular inspection and servicing are recommended to ensure continued performance. Where reliability is critical, upgrading to a dual pump or battery back-up system can provide additional protection against system failure.
Kit Features & Benefits
