Learn more about Damp Proof Membranes

PermaSEAL® Damp Proof Membranes

The PermaSEAL® range of damp proof membranes is highly effective at damp proofing and isolating internal walls and floors. Our market-leading HDPE membranes protect your final finishes with minimal preparation and easy installation.

Our Range

The PermaSEAL® damp proof membrane range covers both mesh, clear and recycled membranes for walls as well as dimpled floor membranes. These reliable membranes are highly effective at meeting various requirements and providing long-term protection.

Damp Proof Membranes for Walls

PermaSEAL® damp proof membranes for walls can be applied internally with little or no surface preparation. They can be used in the following situations:

  • Isolate damp walls
  • Isolate salt-contaminated walls
  • Provide a key on deteriorating surfaces
  • After the installation of a new chemical DPC, isolating the new finish from existing salt and damp-contaminated walls.

These wall membranes feature a 3mm stud, which is ideal for situations when space is at a premium. The cavity created by the stud contains between 3–10 litres of space, known as an air gap. This air gap allows the substrate to breathe and dry out over time without impacting your wall finish.

Our membranes have a high compressive strength and a long life expectancy (over 30 years). They are extremely flexible and have an elongation break of over 40%, therefore they are able to deal with structural movement. This means they provide longer lasting damp proofing solutions.

PermaSEAL Mesh Damp Proof Membranes

Damp proofing walls with our high-quality meshed membranes, also known as plaster membranes, has never been easier. These membranes have a mesh welded onto the face that provides a firm key for direct rendering, lime mortars, plasters and dabbed plasterboard. They can also be used when the existing surface is deteriorating and a firm key is required.

Note: We stock specialist salt damp proof membranes that are 1.2 m high. These are ideal for treating rising damp in areas with a high salt band, offering an extra 300 mm of protection for peace of mind. Read our guide to treating salts on walls for more information.

PermaSEAL Clear Damp Proofing Membranes

Our clear damp proof membranes are ideal for when the required wall finish involves timber battens, a metal track system or a block wall.

Installation

Installing a damp proof wall membrane is simple and straightforward. You simply cut the membrane to size, place it on the wall, neatly folding it around any corners. Next, you drill and fix the membrane to the wall before applying your wall finish. Discover our full range of membrane fixing plugs.

Dimpled Floor Membranes

Our damp proofing range also covers membranes designed to protect floors where hydrostatic pressure is not expected. These dimpled membranes create an air gap that allows the screed to breathe and dry out. Key products include:

We also stock a range of 1200 gauge DPM membranes that sit either above or below the slab alongside Epoxy DPMs. Both solutions protect properties against moisture in the ground. The polythene DPMs are available in 4M x 25M DPM rolls as well as a handy pack 1200 gauge sheets ideal for smaller jobs.
